Senior Product Designer
9fin
About 9fin
The world's largest asset class, debt, operates with the worst data.
Technology has revolutionized equity markets with electronic trading, quant algos and instantaneous news. However, in debt capital markets, the picture is completely different. It still behaves like it’s in the 1980s; trillions of dollars of trades are placed over the phone, news is slow, and corporate credit information is imperfect and scattered.
Our mission is to change this.
9fin's proprietary technology delivers fast and comprehensive financial, credit, legal & ESG analysis. Our clients are able to make faster, more informed decisions, win more business and most importantly, save time.
Our fast growing list of clients include 9 of the top 10 Investment Banks, leading Asset Managers, Hedge Funds and Law Firms.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Product Designer to join our new UK-based Onboarding & Activation team. This role is perfect for someone who loves diving deep into complex problems and designing powerful tools that help finance professionals work more effectively.
Every day is different, but here are a few things you might have worked on recently if you were already part of the cross functional team:
Designing an engaging and effective welcome experience for a newly launched product feature.
Analysing metrics to pinpoint areas where new user activation can be improved, and then designing solutions to address these pain points.
Collaborating with the team PM to interrogate the user experience between pricing packages to identify and resolve any inconsistencies or negative experiences.
Running user testing sessions to validate that new feature ideas will meet the needs of users.
Work with engineers to design efficient solutions that are practical to implement and still deliver value.
Improving existing tools based on user feedback and usage data.
Contributing to our design system, with a focus on reusable components.
You'll be joining a cross-functional team with a PM and multiple engineers, where you'll have significant autonomy to shape both the vision and execution of new features. While visual polish is important, your focus will be on creating intuitive, efficient user experiences that solve real problems.
To be effective, you don’t need any knowledge of the Debt Capital Markets industry, but you should be eager to learn and excited to dive deep into this product area.
About you
If these traits describe you, we encourage you to apply and be part of the team:
You focus on what’s important. You know how to distil a group of ideas into an MVP, by identifying what is actually important, then tactically adding polish. You are able to park nice-to-haves, manage stakeholders, and keep the focus on what really matters.
You are comfortable with complexity. We’re building a dedicated tool to help finance professionals, which isn’t an easy task. You don’t need to come with any knowledge of the finance industry, but you should be eager to learn and excited to dive deep.
You care about the details. You ship robust, functional, and pragmatic UI designs. You can take a design from idea to production UI. You naturally think about the UX of every state, not just the happy cases. You keep iterating until it’s right.
You understand data. You're comfortable diving into product metrics and user research insights to identify opportunities for improvement and translate those findings into creative design solutions.
You are a strong communicator. You can work with stakeholders to shape a problem, then explore design solutions. You can clearly communicate your reasoning and influence others.
You know your tools. We use Figma for Product design and prototyping, and some other tools for UX testing. You have experience designing and maintaining a reusable design system.
You can show your design thinking. You use sketches, wireframes, and prototypes to show how your designs would work in practice. You confidently choose the appropriate fidelity to convey your ideas.
You test and iterate. You validate your designs and ideas. You proactively seek user interviews, user testing, feedback and data to keep the needs of the user at the forefront.
