What you’ll work on

Australian securitisation is booming, and 9fin wants to cover it. This is a market that’s been going from strength to strength, and could break A$100bn issuance in 2026. We’re looking for a reporter who is fluent in finance, isn’t scared to get technical, and who’s keen to get out and break news. You will be covering billion dollar deals, building relationships with CFOs, bankers, hedge funds and lawyers, and getting under the hood of the market as it goes from strength to strength. You will be part of a growing global team based primarily in London and New York, with the chance to make your own way and become the authority on Australian structured finance markets.

This role will be a great fit:

• For a self-starter who is keen to establish their beat, find their voice and make a name for themselves in a fast growing market

• For a skilled journalist who is comfortable writing breaking news, longer-form features, appearing on podcasts, chairing panels and interviewing on and off the record

• For someone fluent in the language and practice of wholesale finance and investment banking, who isn’t intimidated by finance jargon and who can cut through to the heart of the matter

• 9fin has been on a growth tear, and asset-based finance and securitization is one of the fastest growing verticals we have, covering a market which could be $40trn globally. Feedback we often hear from our growing client base is that Australian securitization is having a real moment, with issuance volumes surging and more and more cross-border activity. We’re looking for the right individual to seize that opportunity with both hands and own it.

• This is a great beat to cover — once you start looking at securitization, you see it everywhere, connecting capital flows from the biggest international investors to regular people buying vehicles or homes.
