About Aegiron
Aegiron is building the observability layer for Europe's critical infrastructure. Our software-defined sensor nodes enable operators to anticipate threats, identify vulnerabilities and strengthen their resilience against emerging threats. Backed by premier venture capital funds and angels, we are currently prototyping with blue-chip European infrastructure operators.
The Role
We are looking for a Founding Mechanical Design Engineer who doesn't just want to sit behind a screen all day. We need a maker who not only excels at designing complex systems in CAD, but can also get their hands dirty to build, break, and fix prototypes, too.
You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of mechanical hardware: from back-of-the-napkin sketches to high-fidelity CAD, and finally to rapid prototyping and field testing.
What You Will Do
- Design & Engineer: Create detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings (using SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or equivalent). You will design mechanisms, enclosures, and structural elements.
- Rapid Prototyping: Move quickly from design to physical prototypes by hacking together off-the-shelf parts and 3d prints.
- System Integration: Look at the big picture. Understand how your mechanical designs interact with sensors, electronics, and the environment. Anticipate clashes and assembly issues before they happen.
- Field Testing: Travel to test sites to install, operate, and troubleshoot equipment in real-world conditions.
- Continuous Improvement: Perform root-cause analysis on failed parts and cleverly engineer solutions to ensure reliability.
Who We Are Looking For
- Educational Base: Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent practical experience.
- CAD Proficiency: Strong experience with parametric modeling software.
- Workshop Competency: You are comfortable and safe using basic workshop tools. You know the difference between a design that works in a simulation and one that works in reality.
- Problem-Solving Mindset: You can look at a system requirement and foresee potential pitfalls. You enjoy the challenge of making things work within tight constraints.
- Mobility: Must possess a valid Driver's License and be willing to travel occasionally to local/regional test sites.
