Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to lead the design and integration of cutting-edge in-orbit pharmaceutical manufacturing systems. This role combines advanced space systems engineering with life sciences expertise to develop next-generation space-based manufacturing capabilities. You will be responsible for defining system architecture, managing complex requirements across multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring seamless integration of pharmaceutical manufacturing systems within space environments. This position offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of space commercialization, leading projects from concept through validation while maintaining the highest standards for both space systems and pharmaceutical manufacturing compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and integrate in-orbit pharmaceutical manufacturing systems, defining overall system architecture and ensuring seamless component integration across all subsystems.
- Lead requirements management initiatives, establishing specifications, conducting trade-off analysis, and maintaining traceability throughout the development lifecycle.
- Manage the complete project lifecycle from conceptual design through system-level testing, validation, and operational readiness.
- Drive cross-functional coordination and manage technical interfaces between engineering disciplines, ensuring alignment across all stakeholders.
- Execute and oversee test campaigns for payload systems, subsystems, and R&D programs, including test planning, execution, and results analysis.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including Verification Control Matrices (VCMs), system budgets, analysis reports, and operations manuals.
- Lead technical collaboration through design reviews, engineering meetings, and cross-functional problem-solving sessions.
Technical Skills + Core Competencies
- Strong understanding of space system architecture principles.
- Experience with requirements management and traceability.
- Knowledge of verification and validation processes for space systems.
- Familiarity with ECSS standards and space industry best practices.
- Familiarity pharmaceutical manufacturing standards and or life science payloads.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities, with a proven track record of effective collaboration in multidisciplinary teams.
- Familiarity in systems engineering tools (DOORS, Jama, SysML).
Required Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical role.
- Preference for candidates with space systems or satellite project experience.
- Knowledge of ECSS standards (ECSS-E-ST-10C, ECSS-M-ST-10C) preferred.
- Experience with complex system design and integration projects.
