The General Manager (Curve Credit) will own the product line for Credit including revenue, direct costs and capital / liquidity utilisation. This will be a FCA registered SMF1 position - CEO of the regulated entity solely used for this business. This is a revised product line, delivering new lending opportunities for customers andwill also include the careful management of the existing back-book of loans which is a discontinued business. The role is a senior leadership role and therefore will take on additional responsibilities across Finance and Risk as agreed with the Group CFO.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Setting and owning the strategy for the credit business.
  • Defining P&L targets and building an appropriate risk-return model to demonstrate efficient use of Curve resources - people, capital, liquidity.
  • Managing the P&L line to budget and directing Product resources to achieve optimal customer penetration and user experience.
  • Deliver H1 and H2 budget submissions and associated growth initiatives (including detailed initiative plan) in line with Budget timelines.
  • Managing external partnerships and in particular the funding agreements with banking partners
  • Operating the business within the agreed risk appetite parameters to achieve a healthy return across all credit cycles.
  • Oversee Credit Risk Analytics on a daily basis to ensure future risks are identified and resolved early and seek out further opportunities to deliver business growth.
  • Agree funding levels with Finance where Curve will have balance sheet exposure to lending activity not covered by funding agreements - this relates to the ongoing credit line exposure of the discontinued loans and any agreed on-balance sheet risk from new business outside of the risk parameters of our banking partners.
  • Monitor the relationship with Equifax and ensure that this is operating effectively through regular discussions with the Head of Credit Risk and Head of Data analytics.
  • Management oversight for local staff supporting credit risk analytics and collections
  • Provide support to the Group CFO for other key Finance and Risk initiatives as agreed on a project by project basis.

Skills & Experience:

  • Financial Services executive with 10+ years experience of operating in a complex business which includes credit related products and risks
  • A strong understanding of risk departments and in particular credit risk and associated risks for consumer lending products, preferably within consumer lending or a fintech environment
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance in the financial services industry.
  • Awareness of consumer Finance legislation in the UK and able to direct resources to manage such risks
  • Experience interacting and negotiating with third parties such as private debt funds, structured lenders, and rating agencies.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and draw actionable insights and be able to direct resources to deliver these insights.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities and a strategic mindset.
  • Able to manage matrix teams, multiple stakeholders and multiple projects
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
