Welcome to Curve. On a mission to help you live inspired.

This interim role has been created to support the successful delivery of Curve’s 2024 year-end audit, due for completion by September 2025.

The Junior Finance Assistant will work closely with senior finance team members to support audit preparation, address auditor queries, and ensure the accuracy and substantiation of key balance sheet accounts.

The role also involves collaboration with teams across Treasury, FP&A, Product, and Operations to ensure financial reporting aligns with business activity and audit requirements. This is a valuable opportunity for someone seeking hands-on experience in a fast-paced, regulated fintech environment, with strong potential for professional development in financial control and audit readiness.

Key Accountabilities:

Audit Preparation and Coordination

  • Assist in the preparation of audit support documentation and coordination of deliverables in line with agreed timelines.
  • Act as one of the primary points of contact for audit-related queries, tracking progress and escalating issues that may impact timely completion.
  • Provide continuous support throughout the audit process, including responding to auditor requests, supplying relevant documentation, and helping to ensure a smooth and successful audit outcome.

Balance Sheet Substantiation

  • Support the preparation of balance sheet reconciliations for key accounts such as accruals, fixed assets, intercompany, deferred revenue, prepayments, customer funds, interchange, settlement, and chargebacks.
  • Ensure that balances are fully supported and clearly traceable to underlying documentation.

Financial Data Accuracy

  • Assist in verifying the accuracy of general ledger balances by reviewing transaction postings and identifying discrepancies.
  • Support processes relating to accounts payable and fixed asset registers, gaining exposure to key areas of financial control.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with teams across Treasury, FP&A, Product, and Operations to understand the drivers of key balances.
  • Ensure alignment between operational activity and financial reporting in support of the audit and related requirements.

Issue Resolution

  • Assist in investigating and resolving aged or unreconciled items, for the purpose of supporting the successful completion of the audit.
  • Support the documentation of resolutions in order to minimise audit risk and strengthen financial control processes.

Skills & Experience:

  • Professional Qualification (Part-Qualified): Currently pursuing an accounting qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent (part-qualified).
  • Experience: A minimum of 1–2 years’ experience in financial control or audit preparation, with hands-on involvement in balance sheet substantiation or similar responsibilities.
  • Industry Knowledge: A solid understanding of financial accounting and audit processes, ideally in fintech, payments, or high-growth technology environments.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with preparing balance sheet files and audit support packs. Strong Excel skills (including data manipulation, complex formulas, and pivot tables). Familiarity with NetSuite (highly desirable) or other cloud-based ERP systems.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous and methodical, with a strong awareness of risk and a commitment to maintaining accuracy in financial records.
  • Communication and Stakeholder Management: Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across teams and engage confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Adaptability: Self-motivated and able to work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced, and evolving environment.
