To continue this incredible adventure, we are currently looking for a motivated mid-senior level DevOps Engineer full-time for our Engineering team at our Berlin HQ.

As a mid-senior level DevOps Engineer at Grover, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our infrastructure and deployment pipelines. You'll contribute to ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of our systems while empowering developer velocity through infrastructure automation and robust CI/CD practices. You'll play a crucial role in scaling our engineering department and enhancing system performance, continually optimizing our infrastructure using data from enhanced monitoring platforms.

🎯 What you will contribute:

  • Infrastructure Management: Build, maintain, and continuously improve our highly demanding, Kubernetes-based infrastructure on AWS.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Manage our infrastructure using Terraform to ensure repeatable, auditable, and scalable environments.
  • GitOps Implementation: Implement and maintain GitOps workflows, leveraging tools like ArgoCD for declarative deployments.
  • Database Operations: Operate, scale, and monitor PostgreSQL databases in a production environment.
  • Monitoring & Observability: Set up, manage, and optimize monitoring, alerting, and observability tooling using solutions like Prometheus, Datadog, Grafana, and related technologies.
  • Security & Access Management: Manage secrets and secure access to infrastructure, with experience in tools like HashiCorp Vault and Boundary being a plus.
  • CI/CD Pipeline Development: Develop, maintain, and improve robust CI/CD pipelines that facilitate fast, reliable, and automated software delivery. Facilitate distributed ownership of CI/CD pipelines across engineering teams.
  • Troubleshooting & Optimization: Be able to troubleshoot complex errors in applications across the Cloud Platform, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, race conditions, and other system issues.
  • Collaboration: Communicate and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across their development lifecycle.

🤝 What you bring:

  • Experience: 3-6 years of hands-on experience in a DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or infrastructure-focused role.
  • Cloud Expertise: Solid understanding and hands-on experience with AWS services (e.g., EC2, IAM, VPC, S3, RDS, EKS). In-depth experience with AWS and cloud architecture.
  • Containerization & Orchestration: Proven experience with Docker and Kubernetes in a production environment. Hands-on experience in managing Kubernetes is a strong plus.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Good experience with Terraform for managing infrastructure.
  • CI/CD: Strong proficiency with Continuous Delivery and Continuous Integration principles and modern DevOps tooling.
  • Databases: Excellent knowledge and experience in managing and monitoring relational databases, especially PostgreSQL.
  • Programming and Scripting: Good knowledge of Bash and at least one programming language like Python or Go.
  • Monitoring Stacks: Comfortable with monitoring and observability stacks (e.g., Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Distributed Systems: Experience in a distributed systems environment, particularly with Kafka, is a plus.
  • GitOps: Familiarity with GitOps principles and experience using tools like ArgoCD.
  • On-Call Readiness: Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and handle incident response professionally.
  • Soft Skills: Assertive communication skills for effective collaboration across teams/departments. Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive attitude.

Nice to have skills:

  • Experience with service mesh technologies, ingress controllers, or advanced Kubernetes networking.
  • Experience with compliance, security best practices, or threat modeling in cloud environments.
  • Experience building highly scalable applications and working in a service-oriented environment.
  • A strong background in Unix/Linux environments, dealing with highly demanding performance monitoring
