A Cloud Infrastructure Engineer is instrumental in designing and implementing the architecture, engineering automation processes and best practices for our trading, research and development infrastructure. The role is responsible for all aspects of infrastructure, working closely with all teams to provide a cloud platform for a rapid software and research development lifecycle.


The ideal candidate is an experienced, fully hands-on software developer with in-depth infrastructure experience, who can guide our development and research teams to design, build, deploy and monitor our continuously evolving trading and research stack. A lateral thinker and pragmatic trouble shooter who is excited to work in a small team with a common goal.

Responsibilities

  • Architect the trading and research infrastructure platform and the network underlying our core trading system that runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • Improve the CI/CD system for a rapid software development lifecycle deploying containerised and non-containerised applications on cloud and on premise
  • Develop a high-performance cluster environment in close collaboration with research and development team
  • Improve scalability, observability, security and performance of infrastructure
  • Manage and support trading infrastructure operations

Skills and Experience

Our technology stack includes:

Terraform | Ansible | Java | Python | Javascript/Typescript | Netty | Aeron | SBE | Chronicle | Influxdb | Prometheus | Grafana | Jenkins | Ubuntu/CentOS | some React UIs

  • Experience in infrastructure management with strong focus on AWS and networking (TCP/UDP/FIX/DNS/WebSocket/multicast)
  • Long-term Linux user with intimate knowledge of running servers and services
  • Good knowledge of Python and Linux scripting languages
  • A lateral thinker and pragmatic trouble shooter
  • An excellent communicator and team player able to effectively organise, prioritise and efficiently manage their workload
  • Demonstrated initiative with a strong sense of urgency and purpose. Must be able to communicate ideas effectively and be able to think on their feet
  • Proven ability to operate in high pressure situations while successfully handling multiple priorities and projects simultaneously in a timely manner
  • Deep AWS knowledge across all core services
  • Deep Terraform knowledge: workflow, state, refactoring, modules, integration with other HashiCorp tools
  • Ansible or similar configuration management and provisioning experience
  • Good understand of running and optimising containers
  • Minimum BSc in STEM related field
  • 3+ years’ experience in a cloud infrastructure engineer role or similar
