About the role
The Legal team turns complexity into clarity by partnering with teams across Revolut to provide sharp, practical advice that helps the business move fast while staying protected. From structuring credit programmes to navigating new markets, the Legal team ensures growth is secure, compliant, and built for the long term.
Revolut is looking for a Legal Counsel to advise on our ongoing expansion and operations in Japan, as well as various legal and regulatory matters. You'll report to the Head of Legal based in Japan.

What you'll be doing
- Providing legal analysis and advice on financial regulations
- Drafting and reviewing various commercial contracts, including inter-group, outsourcing, service, partnership, and marketing agreements
- Advising and consulting with internal teams across locations, such as Operations, Compliance, and FinCrime
- Assisting in negotiations with external parties
- Liaising with global and local teams to lead new license applications and business setups
- Advising on data protection, including the Act on Protection of Personal Information and the My Number Law
- Supporting on matters related to AML, CFT, and regulatory compliance
- Identifying and advising on legal risks associated with new product development
- Handling disputes and litigation
- Updating changes in legal and regulatory requirements, and proactively responding to changes in regulatory developments

- 当社に適用される金融規制に関する法的分析及び助言
- グループ間契約、業務委託契約、サービス契約、パートナーシップ契約、マーケティング契約など様々な商業契約のドラフト又はレビュー
- 社内関係者(日本及び英国本社を含むグループ会社のオペレーションチーム、コンプライアンスチーム、金融犯罪対策チーム等)への助言及び相談
- 社外関係者との折衝のサポート
- グローバル及びローカルチームと連携し、新規ライセンス申請や新規事業の立上げを主導すること
- 個人情報保護法、マイナンバー法をはじめとするデータープロテクションに関連する助言
- AML/CFT及びレギュラトリーコンプライアンスに関する業務のサポート
- 新製品開発に関連する法的リスクの特定及び助言
- 利用規約のレビュー
- 社内規程のレビュー
- 争訟対応
- 法令・規制要件の変更をアップデートし、規制の進展に積極的に対応すること
What you'll need
- A licence to practice law in Japan (bengoshi) or common law jurisdiction
- 3+ years of experience in financial legal work (experience at a tech company would be a plus)
- Fluency in Japanese (native level)
- Fluency in English (business level)
- Excellent customer service and client orientation, with the ability to build successful relationships
- A high degree of independence, initiative, and determination
- Enthusiasm and drive for results
- High analytical skills and the ability to exercise good legal and managerial judgement in ambiguous situations
- The ability to work independently and contribute successfully to cross-functional teams
- Great organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines

- 日本の弁護士資格又は英米法系の弁護士資格
- 一流の法律事務所又は金融機関における3年以上の金融法務経験(テクノロジー企業における経験があれば尚可)
- 日本語:ネイティブレベル
- 英語:ビジネスレベル
- 顧客サービス及び顧客志向が強く、良好な人間関係を構築することに長けていること
- 高い独立性、自発性、決断力
- 結果を出すための熱意と意欲
- 高い分析能力を有し、曖昧な状況下でも適切な法的・経営的判断力を発揮できること
