About the role

With grand plans to continue scaling, we’re looking for a passionate, innovative and visionary Software Architect to own our technical landscape and empower multiple tech teams to solve complex problems.

Insurance is complex and fascinating. You should want to soak it up and, ideally, derive real enjoyment from mastering an intellectually stimulating industry - whilst working to change it for the better!

What you'll get up to

Every day is different! As a Software Architect you will set and balance technical direction with business value. You’ll contribute to Superscript’s success by:

• Determining the architecture and technical direction of large and complex applications
• Getting stuck in with our tech stack: PHP, Laravel, Vue, Tailwind, Heroku, Netlify etc
• Aligning teams to the technical vision and keeping them engaged
• Empowering the wider tech team through workshops, pairing and mentoring
• Advising on processes and tools to instil confidence in components and the wider technical landscape
• Communicating with multiple stakeholders (technical and non-technical) to modernise our systems
• Improving our tech team and business with your unique experience and insights
• Creating or contributing to open source projects to give back

About you

We don’t like to put people into boxes, but it’s safe to say you:

• Have experience as a Software Architect (or similar) in a fast-paced environment
• Love determining the technical vision in line with the direction of a business
• Enjoy the challenge of balancing technical idealism with delivery and pragmatism
• Are passionate about healthy code bases and how they can be scaled
• Have excellent communication and presentation skills, whether to the tech team, to business stakeholders or to our leadership team
• Have an appreciation for Event Sourcing and how it can be used an effective tool
• Are opinionated about how applications should be structured and are unafraid to share those thoughts
