Life at UiPath
The people at UiPath believe in the transformative power of automation to change how the world works. We’re committed to creating category-leading enterprise software that unleashes that power.
To make that happen, we need people who are curious, self-propelled, generous, and genuine. People who love being part of a fast-moving, fast-thinking growth company. And people who care—about each other, about UiPath, and about our larger purpose.
Could that be you?
Your mission
You as a Principal Data Engineer will shape and evolve our modern data platform. This is a senior individual contributor role with high strategic impact, strong architectural ownership, and clear expectations around leadership influence, initiative, and autonomous execution.
Our data ecosystem is built on Microsoft Fabric, and we expect this role to drive best practices, scalability, and long-term platform evolution. While prior Fabric experience is not mandatory, strong experience in comparable modern cloud data platforms is essential.
This role goes beyond implementation—it requires someone who challenges the status quo, drives technical direction, and elevates the engineering bar across the team.
What you'll do at UiPath
Own and evolve the architecture of our modern data platform (Fabric-based lakehouse environment)
Lead complex, cross-functional data initiatives end-to-end with minimal oversight
Define and enforce engineering standards, modeling best practices, and performance optimization
Design and optimize scalable ELT pipelines and dimensional data models
Drive platform reliability, governance, and cost-performance balance
Evaluate and introduce new tools and architectural improvements
Act as a technical leader and mentor within the data organization
Partner with Finance, Sales, and other stakeholders to translate business strategy into scalable data solutions
What you'll bring to the team
Core Requirements:
-7+ years of experience in data engineering / data platform roles
- Expert-level SQL skills (mandatory) — advanced transformations, optimization, scalable modeling
-Good working knowledge of Python and/or PySpark
- Proven experience designing and operating modern cloud-based data platforms
(e.g., Fabric, Databricks, Snowflake, Synapse, Redshift, BigQuery, etc.)
- Strong understanding of lakehouse architecture and ELT patterns
- Experience building scalable dimensional models and enterprise-grade data solutions
- Experience integrating complex enterprise systems (ERP, CRM, HRIS, etc.)
Platform Context:
- We currently operate on Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Pipelines, Notebooks, Data Warehouse)
- Direct Fabric experience is a plus — but experience in similar modern distributed/cloud data platforms is expected, along with the ability to quickly adapt and lead within Fabric
Leadership Expectations:
-High degree of ownership and accountability
- Comfortable making architectural decisions in ambiguous environments
- Proactive in identifying risks and improvement opportunities
- Ability to influence technical direction without formal authority
- Strong mentoring capability and engineering mindset
- Strategic thinking combined with hands-on execution
What Success Looks Like
A scalable, reliable, and future-proof data platform
Elevated engineering standards and architectural clarity
High-impact initiatives delivered with autonomy
A stronger data engineering culture driven by your influence
