You’re joining as a Senior Software Engineer to take full ownership of Vera’s secure infrastructure — designing the backbone that powers our AI-driven automation platform.

  • Architecting, building backend services with Python, FastAPI, and a serverless architecture
  • Designing complex integrations with banking APIs, accounting platforms (like QuickBooks and Xero), and cloud storage tools
  • Implementing Azure Functions and event-driven systems for high-scale document processing
  • Building secure systems built for sensitive financial data — aligned with SOC-2, CASA, and enterprise-grade compliance standards
  • Designing and optimizing the database architectures and data pipelines that support Vera’s AI engine and workloads
  • Collaborating closely with AI engineers to deploy, serve infrastructure/models reliably at scale
  • Implementing monitoring and observability across our distributed systems
  • Ensuring system reliability and performance as we scale our infrastructure to support a growing user base of SMBs and partners

  • 5+ years backend engineering with expertise in Python and web frameworks (FastAPI, Django, Flask)
  • 3+ years Microsoft Azure experience (Functions, Storage Accounts, Service Bus, Key Vault)
  • 3+ years building API integrations with third-party services and enterprise systems
  • Strong database expertise - SQL databases, data modeling, query optimization
  • 2+ years serverless architecture - event-driven systems, async processing
  • Security knowledge - encryption, authentication, compliance standards
  • Production system experience - monitoring, debugging, performance optimization
  • 6+ months supporting AI/ML systems (acknowledging recent integration needs)

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years integrating with financial services APIs (banking, accounting software)
  • Knowledge of compliance standards (SOC-2, PCI-DSS, GDPR)
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM templates)
  • Recent experience adapting systems to support LLM workloads
  • Previous experience in fintech, SaaS, or regulated industries
  • Understanding of accounting/finance business processes
  • Adaptability to AI/ML requirements - learned to support model deployment as business needs evolved
