Senior Engineering Manager (f/m/d)

We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager (f/m/d) with experience building microservices to join our Tech team in Spain. The Senior Engineering Manager, Platforms will lead and grow an engineering team in the Platforms group at wefox. As a Senior Engineering Manager you will be crucial to the success of the wefox Insurance Platform and will play a key role in managing team delivery and personnel.
In this role you will :
Manage one or more domains, each with one or more squad.
Manage each domain’s Engineering Lead – understanding, documenting, and managing their growth, performance, expectations, and progress.
Manage personnel and hiring within your domains using established priorities.
Have a data-driven approach to drive domain delivery, constantly using KPIs related to personnel, system performance, business metrics, and other available data.
Ensure that OKRs, technical initiatives, and other non-Product initiatives are being prioritised, and that the squads in your domains have bandwidth available to work on non-Product-driven initiatives.
Ensure that QA, Monitoring, Alerting, and product security are prioritised within your domains.
Use strong verbal and written communication skills in a positive, empathetic way.
Lead by example and living progressive leadership values.
Administrative and operational tasks like approving expenses, time off requests, and training and event budgets.
What you bring :
- 6+ years of experience hiring and managing a team of software engineers in a platform or microservices organization or company.
Demonstrated ability to define, articulate, and drive the vision, strategy, clean architecture, design and implementation of complex, large scale technology systems.
Demonstrated ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a wide variety of audiences.
Experience working with cross-functional teams using agile methodologies, and a strong belief that everything should have a use case.
Experience designing well-formed RESTful APIs for both internal and public consumption, delivering elegant and scalable distributed systems.
Experience working with SQL and no-SQL databases, API gateways, and microservices based system architecture.
Experience working with AWS cloud.
A positive, can-do attitude with a proven ability to organise and move forward within a distributed team environment.
Strong knowledge of English is required; proficiency in Spanish or German is a plus.
Experience working in a regulated industry such as banking or insurance is a plus.
