Job Description

Wise continues to pioneer new ways for people and businesses to send, spend and manage their money across borders and currencies.

Your mission is to support the legal function within the Wise group to help take the business to the next level.

About the role:

  • Build relationships with various teams across Wise to understand their needs and provide initial support on legal queries.

  • Assist with legal research on a diverse range of topics, including financial and consumer regulations, corporate and commercial law, and privacy laws.

  • Support the drafting and review of commercial documents and agreements under the guidance of senior legal counsel.

  • Collaborate with business teams on new products, services, and partnerships, learning about the legal considerations involved in their launch.

  • Help analyze and interpret legal documents to identify potential regulatory, commercial, and litigation risks.

  • Contribute to maintaining compliance with regulatory issues such as anti-money laundering (AML), anti-bribery and corruption (ABC), and sanctions.

  • Assist with the management of disputes and litigation matters, including organizing case materials and preparing initial documents.

  • Learn about aligning legal documentation, such as customer agreements, for new services or market entries.

  • Work with the Legal Team across various global offices (London, Tallinn, New York, Singapore, São Paulo) to deliver group-wide initiatives.

This role will give you the opportunity to:

  • Choose your path to impact - we believe people are most empowered when they can act autonomously. So rather than being told what to do, you’ll take ownership from day one. Of course, you will have feedback from smart, curious people across Wise but you’ll experience unique levels of ownership and empowerment within your role.

  • Be part of our mission to make money without borders the new normal.

Qualifications

  • Holding a Master’s Degree in Law from a Belgian university.

  • Fluent in English, Dutch and French.

  • Eagerness to work in the banking or payments and financial services industry, and/or technology.

  • Knowledge and keen interest in corporate and commercial law, litigation, consumer protection or privacy law is a must.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to summarize legal advice and communicate it clearly and pragmatically.

  • Demonstrable capabilities in legal research and a desire to develop skills in contract structuring, drafting, and negotiation.

  • A "get-it-done," collaborative approach to problem-solving.

  • Curious, proactive, and keen to learn about how fast-growth companies balance corporate governance with the practicalities of scaling.
