Job Description

About the role

We are looking for a Software Engineer - Backend and a Senior Software Engineer - Backend to join our Productivity Engineering team. It’s part of the larger User Technology (UT) team that accelerates the Wise mission with value-driven technology solutions to unlock productivity and create a great Wiser experience.

You will be building a capability to enable non-technical teams to automate their work by designing and implementing custom API integrations and embedding AI/ML in software solutions that solve real business problems.

In this role, you’ll get the chance to lay the foundations of the core components of this capability while collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders.

How we work

At Wise, we champion automation, programmatic implementation, and reusable design. We’re looking for teammates who can think holistically about our ecosystem before diving into the implementation, leveraging support from our broader platform community.

As we continue to scale, we’re continuously iterating on our services—prioritising availability, security, and effortless usability. We need engineers who can transform complex requirements into straightforward solutions, empowering our teams to move faster and with greater confidence in our mission.

What will you be working on?

  • Crafting Custom Solutions: Design, develop, and implement custom API integrations and bespoke software solutions, including AI agents, that directly address team pain points and elevate operational efficiency across the organization.

  • Driving Automation Excellence: Lead the charge in automating complex workflows, leveraging concepts like Configuration as Code and Jobs as Code to ensure scalable, maintainable, and robust solutions across platforms like Atlassian, Google Workspace, Slack, and Workato.

  • Architecting Microservices for Automation: Design and deploy your automation scripts and solutions as resilient, scalable microservices, ensuring high availability and performance.

  • Mentoring & Elevating Talent: Act as a technical coach and mentor, sharing your expertise in software engineering practices to uplift the skills and capabilities of our engineering teams.

  • Strategic Tooling Development: Contribute significantly to the strategic roadmap for an internal automation capability within Wise, ensuring our solutions are aligned with Wiser’s rapid growth and evolving needs.

  • Driving Intelligent Automation: Leverage the power of Productivity Tooling and their native AI (i.e. Atlassian Suite, Google Workspace, Workato, and Slack) to design and deploy AI-driven solutions to improve experience for Wise employees.
