Job Description

Wise is growing fast — and our Reward team is scaling to match. As we expand across 30+ countries, the complexity around employment tax, global mobility, immigration, equity, and payroll compliance is growing too. With the recently announced US Listing, we have an opportunity to streamline our stock management including our stock platform administration & compliance with US requirements.

We need a senior leader to take ownership of this space and build global frameworks that allow Wise to move quickly, stay compliant, and deliver high-quality processes at scale.

This is a rare opportunity to shape how we operate globally — with a sharp focus on cost, speed, and quality. You’ll own the strategy and lead delivery across employment tax, global mobility, immigration, and stock management — while building internal capabilities, vendor performance and ensuring compliance across all jurisdictions.

What You’ll Do:

Employment Tax & Governance

  • Oversee & provide strategic guidance on all global employment tax matters, including payroll and benefit compliance, equity reporting & equity tax compliance.

  • Build governance and controls that support Wise’s readiness for future US listing requirements.

Stock Management (administrating, compliance & governance)

  • Oversee & provide strategic guidance on administration of the equity compensation programs to align employee interests with company goals.

  • Support the Global Head of Reward in US listing preparation work across employee tax, stock and remuneration aspects with support as needed from external advisory firms.

Global Compliance & Mobility Frameworks

  • Oversee & provide strategic guidance as needed for the Global Mobility programme to have scalable policies and frameworks to support international hiring, cross-border moves, and new market entry.

Payroll Governance

  • Strengthen & facilitate governance, audit readiness, and risk reporting across payroll operations globally.

  • Partner with the Global Payroll lead to improve training, issue resolution, and visibility to senior leaders.

  • Facilitate & support the mapping and automation of key payroll compliance processes to reduce manual handling and exposure.

Immigration & Business Travel Oversight

  • Oversee & support the development of a global immigration approach and strategy.

  • Drive oversight of business travel tracking, short-term cross-border risks, and social security coverage including PWD.

Vendor & Service Management

  • Lead vendor strategy and end-to-end frameworks around vendor billing, scoping, and SLAs with the relevant SMEs within the team.

  • Track performance against delivery KPIs, drive accountability, and ensure alignment with Wise priorities.

Team Development & Ownership

  • Define the global operating model for this space across Reward, Payroll, and Tax.

  • Clarify roles and responsibilities and scale internal expertise through coaching, documentation, and repeatable delivery.

  • Build a culture of accountability — not escalation.

  • Drive process mapping and automation to streamline and standardise global operations.

What makes this role unique:

  • You’ll lead a rare combination of employment tax, mobility, stock administration and immigration — all under one roof.

  • This is both strategic and hands-on: you’ll shape the frameworks and lead the implementation through your SMEs.

  • Enabling your team to own and operate within their specific subject matters as SMEs while providing a holistic & seamless framework for the business.

  • You’ll create a function that enables Wise to scale fast, without cutting corners on compliance.

  • You’ll build vendor and stakeholder relationships that deliver at speed and high quality.

  • Your work will directly support Wise’s operational readiness for future US listing and global expansion.

What success looks like:

  • Clear visibility and ownership of global employment tax, mobility, immigration, stock administration processes.

  • Reduced tax and compliance risk across employee lifecycle events and international growth.

  • Scalable frameworks in place for hiring, mobility, and equity events — reducing friction and improving experience.

  • Clear cost forecasting and stronger budget control for employee moves, tax liabilities, and vendor spend.

  • Automation and standardisation of key processes across global regions.

  • Seamless collaboration with People Ops, Finance, Legal, Payroll, and external vendors.

  • Smooth, compliant experience for employees, senior leaders, and stakeholders.

  • SLT, People Ops, and Finance have confidence in Wise’s compliance position as we scale and mature.

You’ll thrive in this role if:

  • Extensive & proven experience in all or some of the SME areas across employment tax, payroll compliance, global mobility, equity reporting and immigration. With a proven track record of providing holistic guidance and support to the business & key stakeholders.

  • You’ve led policy design, global transformation, and vendor implementation.

  • You understand what it takes to get a company listing-ready — even if you haven’t done it yet, you know how to lead that journey.

  • You’ve worked across both in-house and consulting environments, and can switch between strategy and execution confidently.

  • You’ve built strong relationships across Reward, People, Legal, Tax, and Finance — and know how to land decisions across multiple stakeholders.

  • You’ve led teams successfully via clear roles, coaching and training and expanding their responsibilities.
