Your Mission

As the first Head of Finance at Ben, you will be building the operations, processes and finance capabilities to meet the demands of a fast-growing tech business. You’ll be responsible for financial modelling, forecasting, operations and reporting, all whilst developing a strong and motivated team.

Joining a high-growth, VC-backed organisation, you will also have the opportunity to get involved in fundraising activity and work closely with our Founders and leadership team.

Our team is small, which means high autonomy, ownership and responsibility.

Things you will be working on…

• Leading and managing the budgeting and forecasting process, providing valuable insights and recommendations

• Partnering effectively with internal teams on finance and strategy topics, ensuring that teams understand their performance, budgets and financial performance indicators

• Ensuring financial operations and reporting are accurate and timely

• Continuously assessing and improving financial systems, tools and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy

• Leading and managing preparation of accurate and timely management information and analysis for board meetings, internal audiences and investors

• Overseeing treasury, FX and cash flow including optimising working capital management to maximise liquidity

• Collaborating with the founders on fundraising activities, including leading on due diligence and preparing pitch materials with exposure to top-tier investors

• Responsible for relationships with HMRC, external advisors, banks and auditors, and for statutory compliance

• Leading a small, highly capable Finance team, including regular 1:1s, performance management and development, and recruitment.

You will love this role if you have…

• Experience of building a strong finance capability within a dynamic, complex and rapidly evolving VC backed business; this role requires demonstrable leadership experience in a fast paced, dynamic environment

• A passion for supporting and developing team members, but can thrive within a lean team and are willing to be hands on

• Experience of managing cash-flow and runway in a fast scaling business where growth and control are both key

• Experience of both forecasting / financial planning and financial control / reporting is preferred but can be weighted to one

And you…

• Are able to work under pressure, prioritise work effectively, and manage and motivate a team

• Can communicate, collaborate and lead effectively

• Enjoy problem solving, taking others with you in your decision making

It is a bonus, but not essential, that you are:

• A qualified accountant

• Have experience of involvement in transactions and/or fund-raising

• Have experience in a B2B SAAS business

Please note this role requires you to work 2 days in our London office each week.
